This activity is available in the following locations:
Notes: All our trips require a reasonably level of fitness (ability to walk a couple of miles) and those new to canoeing or who do not canoe regularly will find our 3 hour trips provide plenty of challenge and exercise. They are also ideal if you are a bit nervous of canoeing or have young children, ability to swim is not compulsory as all participants wear life jackets and there is always a Safety Boat. If you’re not sure just contact us.
Prices are per person in our stable double kayaks (or double plus child seat). Single kayaks are slightly less stable and more suited to those with some kayaking experience. If you're an odd number or want a single kayak (please request this at the time of booking) - please
add £5 to the standard trip price. Any child under 13 will have to be in a double canoe with an adult and under 18’s must be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian – minimum age is 3 years. The 3 hour trips run from Golant around High or Low Tides and you will be contacted separately with a start time.
High tide “Creeks & Backwater” trips normally paddle up “Wind in the Willows” creek to Lerryn village or upriver into wilder sections of water around St Winnow. These are good trips for spotting wildlife in some of the hidden creeks en route. Low tide “Harbours & Beaches” departures paddle downriver passing Fowey docks and into the Harbour visiting Fowey and Polruan. Both trips are suitable for families and those who have never kayaked before and both provide a perfect introduction to River Fowey kayaking. Weather permitting all trips stop for a 20 – 30 minute refreshment break before heading back to Golant where more refreshments are usually on offer at the Fisherman’s Arms.
Notes: Because of the tides you will be contacted with a start time. You will be met in Trelissick car park and walked through the garden to the start point. We only operate with small groups so can get the most out of your time. Make sure you wear suitable clothing and footwear that you don't mind getting wet. We also suggest you bring a bottle of drink. All safety equipment will be provided. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs are very welcome. If there is only one of you please contact us to see if there is a group going.
Paddling trips on the River Fal will include a 2.5 hour guided journey. We work in association with the National Trust and are based at Trelissick Gardens. The canoe adventure will begin with paddling basics and river safety then we will begin our trip exploring the many creeks and inlets of this beautiful area. This trip gives you the chance to see site like the Smuggles cottage, King Harry ferry and the estates woodlands from the water. A very relaxing time out. For all the family.
Notes: Start time 10am or 1.30pm dependent on tides, confirmation on booking. Please bring with you a Towel, Swimming costume and a pair of trainers you don't mind getting wet. Wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets are provided. You should be confident in the water and be able to swim 25m unaided but you do NOT have to be a good swimmer. Prices are per person in our stable sit on top double kayaks. Because of tide times you will be contacted separately with a start time. Any child under 13 years old will have to be in a double kayak with an adult. You may not be able to do the activities as advertised because of the weather but rest assured you will have a great day as we have plenty of other activities to choose.
Our guided Harlyn kayak tours will take you around the beautiful coastline by Harlyn Bay or along the Camel Estuary in Padstow. The kayak tours last for 2 hours and you are bound to be amazed by the sheer beauty of the Cornwall coastal environment as well as enjoying the physical exhilaration of paddling your own sit on top kayak!
Our sit on top kayaks are very stable and there is no risk of entrapment and are more appropriate for those who wish to feel free and comfortable on top of the kayak rather than inside it. No experience is necessary. For families with young children U8 it is perfectly safe to have the child sat in the middle as the kayaks will float 3 people. We do not charge for U8 if you take this option. For more experienced paddlers or those that wish to kayak by themselves we have a few Perception single sit on top kayaks.
Take it easy and enjoy the amazing scenery such as sea birds, seals, basking sharks and sunfish or explore the rugged coastline and many secluded spots to be found while kayaking in Cornwall. Kayaks, wetsuits, lifejackets and helmets are supplied free by us.
Notes: Photograph identity card (eg driving licence) to be presented at time of hire. You should be CONFIDENT IN THE WATER AND BE ABLE TO SWIM 50m. We supply all the necessary safety kit and wetsuits but you should consider appropriate footwear in case you stray from the sandy beach and land where there are rocks, if it is cold you may also like to bring a warm hat. Hopefully it will be hot and sunny on the day that you visit so please consider sun protection. Changing and Refreshment facilities are available on the beach with free parking for customers.
Explore the coastline around Millendreath on one of our sit on kayaks.
Looe bay (Millendreath) is one of the safest in Cornwall and yet boast a picturesque shoreline with some stunning rocky cliffs as a backcloth. A day or half day hire will give you plenty of opportunity to explore near by or simply have fun at the beach. The kayaks are designed with safety and enjoyment in mind. Seats have integrated padded back rest, there are adjustable foot placements and your position is "on top" not inside. So there is no chance of getting trapped in the kayak even if you should capsize.
